When I started this A-Z Challenge, I didn’t have a plan for over half of the alphabet. I just thought I would stick to a theme of action and try. I even thought I might skip a day if necessary. Somehow, I kept showing up and doing it. That’s what try means to me. You show up. You do it. If you fail, you try again. You keep showing up. You do things differently.
When I returned to school for my masters, I didn’t have the money for tuition. I just thought I would figure it out, and I did. I had probably thought about going back to school for ten years before I committed, and now I’m probably most proud of myself for just doing it.

I’ve been thinking about what I’ve absorbed in my life. I grew up with this one—

It’s never too late to absorb the good stuff…and it’s never too late to try…
I remember this story of the little train. It is a good attitude to have.

I love this message! ❤️ In my life I’ve learned that it takes a bit of elbow grease to get anything accomplished and it really comes down to me rolling up my sleeves and getting it done! I loved these books as a young kid too! 😊

Little did we know when our mothers read us the Little Engine that Could, we were being prepped for life. Thanks to Mothers everywhere. I remember in the early years saying “I think I can, I think I can, to take my mind off a boring task I had to do. It did work. Stay well Crystal. Allan

I’ve always found that reciting “I think I can, I think I can” to myself helps me do difficult things. I’m so pleased to see you mention it here. I feel less like a goofball now.

And now it’s stuck in my head, but that’s okay. I can think of worse things.

Thank you for sharing!!… I remember the story of the little train well… you can be proud of your accomplishments and your courage… “The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” -( Michel Angelo)…. here on the path we have high hopes… 🙂
Until we meet again..
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true

I think too often we throw in the towel before we even try. Looking at the enormity of something (like going back to school) can be overwhelming. But you have presented this in such a way that makes sense and takes the pressure off. Just try. Thank you for the encouragement you have given in this post and in the entire A-Z series. By the way, I finally tried a cartwheel yesterday. It initially hurt my shoulder and wrist. But it went away and I was fine. I might need to try a left handed version to see if it makes a difference 🤔 in the end it was till fun to do something like that. Oh and it probably wasn’t pretty or perfect. But still fun! 😁

I’m happy your wrist and shoulder are okay, Bridget! I have to admit—I haven’t tried another cartwheel since the beginning of the month. I overextended my groin. It’s better now, too. But I’m still stretching out for next time.

The Little Engine That Could was one of my favorite children’s stories. Nothing tried. Nothing gained.

It’s good to hear that you found a way to get your masters and that the theme of action and try helped you with the A-Z challenge. Very true, it’s so important to absorb affirmations like I think I can. I appreciate you for the encouragement to be persistent in our trying!

Superb attitude, Crystal, which you’ve illustrated with an inspiring story drawn from real life – your life. There’s the principle of the matter – Chapter One, though you’re provided us the rest of the story too.
Seems to me, your mind fully appreciates the attitude, and is busy, even in the lulls between attempts. Thus, even though, on the surface, you were unsure how you’d finance your degree, the mind was busy coming up with ideas of how to accomplish just that. Whether you were aware of it, or not.
Wonderfully complex tools, our minds, capable of richness far deeper than what appears on the surface.
