Did you know that today, March 8, is International Women’s Day? A friend of mine recently inspired me with how she will be celebrating—by giving thanks to the amazing women in her life and by celebrating herself. How appropriate and what a great idea! Despite your gender, if you celebrate women internationally, THANK YOU!  

My friend asked the question, “If you could tell your younger self anything, what would you say?” And so here goes:

Dear Little Crystal,

Be true to yourself and live your God-given purpose. Be honest and courageous, proud, confident, and unapologetic. Keep your body, mind, and spirit strong. Love wholly and forgive fully. Don’t let anyone shut you up or down. Maintain boundaries for bullshit and remember you can do hard things.

Much love,

Your Bigger, Wiser Self

And as a follow-up, “If you could encourage yourself in any way today, what would you say?”

Dear Me,

Be kind to yourself, progress is progress, and don’t ever forget your own best advice. I love you!

Love Me!

      1. I love that reminder! I work hard to speak to my current self they way my little self should have been spoken too.

    1. Thank you, Bryan. 33,000 girls are forced to become child brides everyday. 132 million girls are not in school. I’m grateful for my comfortable life, but our world still has such a way to go.

    1. Appreciate your support, Nico! I’m liking this day. On Valentine’s Day, I always feel bad for my single friends who want relationships. On Mother’s Day, I feel bad for those who have lost their mothers or who have lost a child or who couldn’t conceive. This day just celebrates women. It’s nice.

      1. Yes for sure! I used to post for Mother’s Day and do more for Valentine’s Day but I felt the pain of others you’ve mentioned and wasn’t sure how to express it. Peace and wonderful blessings to you and your family.

    1. I love wishes for happiness on any day, Keith. I was thinking about the advice my younger might’ve had for me. I was something of a gymnast, and I remember visualizing my backhand springs and flips. I think she would tell me to never stop visualizing what I want. Now to think of advice for 2031 Me.
