American soul duo Gnarls Barkley released “Crazy” in 2006. The song always spoke to me, but years later the same words through Angela Ricci’s lips mesmerized me. No surprise that Nina Simone and Ray Charles influenced her jazz and blues sound, and Ricci’s voice echoes inside my head today because I’ve made a decision to do something crazy. I hate to be a vague-poster, but I’m waiting on an official word before I make any sort of announcement. Fingers crossed.

  2. Sometimes I just have to cross those self imposed boundaries into the crazy zone. What has become apparent is much of my growth seems to occur during those times. Sigh.

  4. This is perfect Crystal, this song is on my liked songs and hear it all the time, and I totally can relate to cray cray for sure; as a matter of fact crazy and God are the only 2 things I relate to at the moment!🤪😁❤

  5. Okay Crystal – you have me on edge here! Don’t make me cray cray crazy! Way behind on reading posts as I have been enjoying a visit from my Dad. It’s wonderful at his age he is still mobile and willing to drive hundreds of miles and through the mountains to visit. I am blessed. I sense your crazy is a happy one also. – David

  7. What’s life, Crystal, without craziness to spur it forward? No matter where we draw inspiration, whatever achievements we hope to emulate, such ideals started life as a crazed break from established “reality.” The best among them have acquired regard sufficient to make them, by now, the new standard, but all came into this world shaking things up a little. Or a lot, more often.

    Oh, getting at last to today’s specifics, both versions work for me. Both boast lyricism with a subtle insistence, nonetheless, which takes the listener…places. Evocative.

    Can’t say which one I prefer, though. One dish, two flavors. Leave it to a foodie to make that reference. With a meal this savory, though, nothing left but to applaud the chef who brought it to the table.
